In the past, jacks were played with small sheep bones. Today, quality jacks are made of lead. To play jacks, you need 5 jacks, one of which has a special mark (in this case, red).

Rules of the game of skill :

Basic principle: Players can only touch the metal jacks when the red jack is in the air. And the red jack must never fall to the ground.

First turn

- throw (like dice) the 4 metal knuckles on the ground

- pick up the red knuckle

- throw the red knuckle in the air and, before it falls, pick up 1 metal knuckle from the ground, then catch the red knuckle, keeping the white knuckle in your hand (but if you miss, simply catch the red knuckle to start again).

- the player places the white jack aside.

- the player then starts again, picking up the 3 remaining white knuckles one by one.

Second round:

- throw the 4 metal knuckles on the ground

- pick up the red jack

- throw the red knuckle in the air and, before it falls, grab 2 metal knuckles together, then catch the red knuckle, keeping the 2 white knuckles in your hand. The aim of the game is to grab the white knuckles in pairs.

Tip: before grabbing them, the player can group the white knuckles 2 by 2 while the red knuckle is in the air.

Third turn:

- pick up 3 jacks at once... and so on.
