The snake consists of wooden planks joined together with fabric ribbons. When the ladder is held by one end and the top plank is turned over, the planks seem to cascade over each other: a tilt of a wooden plank magically produces a cascade of reversals.
With a little dexterity, you can also make the snake move and undulate in all directions. Many shapes and figs are possible.
